Process - Mock Up

The Mock Up

We sent the package to China and after about a month and a half of correspondence we received the first Mock up. Mock ups are made in 1:8 scale and usually out of wood or solid polymers and they are generally hand carved or shaped. This step of the process is primarily used to show the basic outside shape, curves and lines of the model and none of the mechanical workings are included. This is where all the time and effort that was spent in creating the measured set of drawings started to pay off. As you can see the artisans expertly captured the unusual shape of the hull, canopy and sponsons and the overall shape of the mock up looks just like the real thing. Surprisingly there were only a few areas that we had to modify and we were all very pleased.
